On September 20-22, the Taste Trekkers Food & Travel Expo launched in Providence, Rhode Island. This was the nation’s first event designed for people who plan their vacations around food. It featured insight from chefs, farmers, food bloggers, travel writers, winemakers, beer brewers and more.
Keynote Address by Chef Matt Jennings
Chef Matt Jennings of Farmstead delivered the keynote address. Dubbed “The Prince of Pork,” Matt is a multiple James Beard Award nominee and three-time Cochon 555 champion. He was named one of America’s ‘Most Sustainable Chefs’ by the Mother Nature Network and one of Food & Wine‘s ’40 Under 40 Big Thinkers.’
Panel Discussion: Culinary Tourism Today and Tomorrow
We brought together several chefs, food tour operators and culinary tourism experts to discuss the state of food tourism. Led by Gail Ciampa, the Food Editor of The Providence Journal, we heard from the top practitioners of food tourism in North America.
