Aurora is metro Denver’s most diverse city and, for eating, its most rewarding. Havana Street is the spine — a long commercial stretch where Ethiopian, Korean, Mexican, Vietnamese and Somali restaurants sit within a few blocks of each other.
The Ethiopian community here is one of the larger ones in the country, and the restaurants are the real thing rather than adaptations. The Korean stretch along Havana includes proper barbecue houses and a substantial market.
Colorado green chile shows up here as it does across the Front Range, smothered over burritos. Aurora is considerably cheaper than Denver proper and a short light rail ride from it, which makes it the sensible base for anyone eating their way through the metro area.
