Irving is among the most internationally diverse cities in Texas, and its food follows. The South Asian community is the largest single thread — the restaurants and grocers along MacArthur Boulevard cover North and South Indian regional cooking, Pakistani grills and Bangladeshi kitchens.

There is also a substantial East African population, with Ethiopian and Somali restaurants, and long-established Mexican food throughout the older parts of the city.

Las Colinas, the planned district on the north side, holds most of the corporate and upmarket dining. The better value is in the strip malls along Belt Line and MacArthur, which is where the city actually eats. Texas barbecue is a short drive in any direction.
